The SFA announced today the man in the middle more commonly known as the Mason In The Black for Sunday’s Premiership match between Celtic and Sevco will be Bobby Madden.
Madden, from East Kilbride, was reputed to be a season ticket holder at Ibrox, and a member of his hometown supporters club, for the previous incarnation, Rangers, but had to give it up to pursue his refereeing ambitions, though it’s not clear if he still holds an affinity with the place.
His appointment isn’t really much of a surprise, with fellow whistlers Craig Thompson, Willie Collum and Steven McLean all failing to stop Celtic in the three games played already this season, Madden seemed the obvious choice.
What isn’t certain is the level of bias or incompetence Bobby Madden has.
Unlike his colleague John Beaton, whos bias shines like a beacon, Madden tends to be overall that bit more incompetent, although he can excel at either.
With the teams poles apart on and off the field the only thing that can bring them closer is the officials. We’ve seen it before and come Sunday, we’ll see it again.
That’s the biggest threat to our unbeaten record…
