When will it ever end? Never hopefully! Apart from the everyday feeling of being blessed to support such fantastic club, the fact that we as a support are recognised the world over is tantamount to the effect we have on football.
For many years now, famous footballers from ALL the big clubs throughout the game have paid glowing tributes to the amazing atmosphere they’ve experienced at Celtic Park.
Such is the reputation of Paradise, especially on a European night, world famous players who haven’t yet played at the Holy Ground express their wishes to get a chance to sample the wonderful aura of a packed Celtic Park.
And the people who make is so special, you and me, the Celtic support, were rightly rewarded with the ‘FIFA Best Fans In The World’ award at the London Palladium last night.
Picking up the award on behalf of the fans was chairman Ian Bankier, and the Celtic SLO, John Paul Taylor. JP, as he’s know to the rest of the support, was beaming like a Cheshire cat as he posed with the trophy. If there’s a supporter who deserved to receive the accolade on behalf of the fans, then it JP.
A real gent and a great Celtic supporter.
Of course, the award isn’t the first the fans have received from football’s governing bodies. In 2003, the Bhoys and Ghirls were presented with the Fair Play award from both FIFA & UEFA in recognision of the fantastic support of the team in Seville for the 2003 UEFA Cup Final.
An estimated 80,000 fans travelled to Andalucia in the South of Spain to see Celtic take on Porto, still the largest cross continent exodus of football fans recorded.
These are great times for Celtic and the fans that make the club what it is. And with a BetFred Cup Final to look forward to on 26 November against Motherwell, there could be even more trophies in the cabinet before the end of the year!
