What A Start To Paddy’s Week!
Posted by: | CommentsKeano Starts The Celebrations…
It was almost like a prophecy.
At the start of the Festival of St Patrick, Robbie Keane, son of Erin, bangs in three glorious goals to dump Tango and Sash out of the Scottish Cup.
The Republic of Ireland captain scored three times in a second half canter that put his ‘bhoyhood’ heroes into the semi-finals.
Then in the afternoon, the Irish rugby fellows dispatched another Celtic nation Wales 27-12 at Croke Park to mark captain Brian O’Driscoll’s 100th cap for his country.
Hopefully the good fortune will continue when Dundee United formerly Dundee Hibernian, go to the Hunnery for today’s Scottish Cup tie.
Referee’s permitting, the Arabs could well knock Scotland’s Shame out the cup and give us even more reason to have a pint of the black stuff!
Future Of Internationals?
Posted by: | CommentsInterest Lacking
When Scotland and Japan played yesterday morning did anyone really take much notice?
I know it was on BBC2 because I was flicking through the channels, other than that, does anyone really care about international football anymore?
This is not just a fleeting comment. Through the week Man City and Republic of Ireland star Stephen Ireland was quoted as saying that he saw no future in the international game because the club game is now so powerful.
And he should know, plying his trade for arguably the biggest club in the world, financially.
You only have to look at the call offs when any international squad is announced. Then you have more and more established players quitting to prolong their club careers.
South Africa next year could be the last chance for FIFA to save the international game. It’s a massive gamble, and if Argentina, France, Portugal and possibly Russia failing to make the World Cup will the public be as interested?
With no Messi, Ronaldo, Arshavin and Henry to name but a few.
Would it really be the best tournament in world football?
Return of the Green Omen?
Posted by: | CommentsHibees Set The Tone…
I’m sure it was the weekend of St Paddy’s Day that I wrote of a ‘treble’ green omen. On that occasion it was Hibs beating Hertz, Ireland winning at the rugby and the most important, Celtic lifting the CIS Cup after skelping the Huns.
Now I know that Ireland won’t be playing rugby anytime soon, so a ‘treble’ is out the question, but the ‘double’ is a real possibility. Here’s why…

Aiden & Skippy Celebrate!
While at Celtic Park, Derek Riordan or ‘Deek’ as he’s known, didn’t really set the heather ablaze, but put him in a Hibs strip and let him loose on the wee Huns and he’s a different proposition.
And last night, he proved how valuable he can be for the Hibees, scoring the only goal of the game from the penalty spot. (Before he was attacked by a couple of maroon morons)
So, what’s that got to do with Celtic you may ask?
Well, some players seem to rise to the occasion in derby matches. And recently, our talisman has been Scott McDonald.
With the assistance of Craig Thomson and Tom Murphy, (tomorrow’s referee and linesman) like last season’s 3-2 victory at Celtic Park, the wee man might just prove to be our lucky charm.!
Ha…Ha…Ha…
Bhoys Must Put Club First
Posted by: | CommentsAiden & Artur Better Off At Celtic Park
The news that the Holy Goalie was sent back to Glasgow after the nightmare he endured on and off the park in Belfast last Saturday, should come as no surprise to anyone.

A Rebel Yell!
His international coach Leo Beenhakker has hardly been supportive of Artur, something that can’t be said of WGS. And to make matters worse, his goalkeeping coach Jan Tomaszewski has blamed Boruc for inciting a ‘religious war’.
That last piece of nonsense makes my blood boil. How would he know what Artur has to go through in Glasgow? Maybe Cloughie was right to call him a ‘clown’ all those years ago.
Anyway, it’s best for Artur to where he feels wanted, so Lennoxtown for the next couple of days will be a welcoming sanctuary for the big Pole.
And joining him shortly will be Aiden McGeady. The flying Irishman has a knee injury that will keep him out of the Republic’s game against Italy in Bari tomorrow night.
Aiden will surely benefit from the rest and be ready to face Hamilton this Saturday. Hopefully the remaining Bhoys on international ‘duty’ will come through unscathed and we can focus on the title run-in starting this week.
This really is a time when the club comes first.
