Would You Like To Go To School…At Celtic?

Posted by: Fanzone | Comments Comments Off

Every Bhoys Dream

What a result that would be. Appartantly it’s about to happen too.

Head of Development Chris McCart was in yesterday’s papers telling us how the club has looked at the continental style of youth coaching and are about to implement the best of systems at Celtic.

From the under 14 age group, players will train at Lennoxtown every weekday morning at 8am, then go to a local school and return to train from 5pm onwards at the complex.

This system is common abroad and has paid dividends for the clubs who use it. Nurturing our talent will become more important than ever and the club see this as the best possible use of Lennoxtown.

You can only imagine how it would feel to be part of this dream.

Lucky Bhoys, whoever they may be!

Who’s Next?

Posted by: Fanzone | Comments (5)

One Voice?

Before I get accused of being too negative towards the new Hoops management team, I’d like to know why we have so many members of Tony Mowbray’s crew talking to the media?

The same media that will crucify us if things go wrong!

Please forgive me if I’ve got this wrong but I canny remember John Robertson , Steve Walford or Gary Pendrey crowing to the press about what Celtic are doing. Can you?

One voice should eminate from Paradise, be it Tony Mowbray, Peter Lawwell or Peter Grant. One voice and one only.

All it takes is for the opinion of Mogga to come across different from that of Mark Venus and the media will murder us.

One voice, is that too much to ask?

Mark Venus…Newsflash!

Posted by: Fanzone | Comments (11)

Time Isn’t An Option

I was quite intrigued to listen to assistant manager Mark Venus comment yesterday that Mogga and the backroom Bhoys won’t be rushed into signing someone just for a Champions League tie.

He then admitted having limited knowledge of European football.

Newsflash Mark!

At Celtic you don’t get time. It’s fine saying you want to build a team that will last four or five years but in this town, you’ve got to get results…..fast!

I’ve no doubt that the whole joining Celtic thing has yet to fully settle in but as far as the Faithful are concerned, once the Hoops take the field for the first time….it’s honeymoon over.

So Mark, sometimes it’s better to say nothing at all.

Parting Shot From Naka Sidekick

With Shunsuke Nakamura, our most gifted player in the last four years, on his way to Spain his friend and fellow Japanese national,  journalist Daisuke Nakajima has launched a ‘veiled’ parting shot at the way we do things in Scotland.

Naka In Full Flow!

Naka In Full Flow!

Nakajima said: “Naka really enjoyed his time in Scotland. He always says he improved as a player but he says the Scottish game is in need of a more global outlook in order to progress.

“He believes Scottish football can improve tactically if some foreign mangers come in and introduce more complex training techniques with a focus on passing and learning.

“The drinking culture and eating of fish and chips is not good. Even Celtic players eat crisps and drink Irn Bru on the team bus on the way to the game. This would not happen in Japan.”

And it shouldn’t happen in Scotland either.

Even amateur football players don’t guzzle juice and crisps before a game but these overpaid ‘professionals’ should know better.

It’s definitely not ‘Phenomenal’ in my book!

Tumbleweed Time In Paradise

Posted by: Fanzone | Comments (1)

Is There Anybody Out There?

It’s now a week since the Faithful and the media got a glimpse of our new manager and his backroom team.

Tony Mowbray, Peter Grant, Mark Venus and Neil Lennon are all in place for the new season.

Since then all we’ve had really is the obligatory quotes about how well we’re going to do, you know, the usual fighting talk.

But on the signing front, nothing really.

In fact we’re worse off than last week, Naka has gone to Espanyol, despite Skippy having a heart-to-heart with him last week and the Japan maestro telling the wee Aussie he was homesick!

So, really it’s tumbleweed time in Paradise, it’s so quiet that even the official site is resorting to past players’ stories.

When they’ve nothing to report, then there ain’t much going on.
