He Twists…He Turns…His Name is TOMMY BURNS…..!!!!

Season 2008/09 finally finished today with only the CIS Cup to show for our efforts whilst unbelievably The Re-arrangers have completed the SPL & Scottish Cup double….

So an immediate word of warning to Tims everywhere and a general safety alert to the public in general as Scotland’s Shame and now also Northern Ireland’s Shame will no doubt “celebrate” their success in their usual manner of  committing “Murder, Assualt and Racial & Secterian Abuse”  wherever they go.

The advice to everyone from here is, stay off the streets and out of the pubs whilst “the scum” are on their normal bigoted celebration trail….

Now I ask all us Bhoys & Ghirls to put all those horrible thoughts behind us and make our way to Paradise on Sunday afternoon to join with Tommy Burns’s family and friends in a “Real Celebration” of a “True Celtic Legend” and one of “The Greatest Men” you could possibly meet in any walk of life.

I really do hope and pray that “The Celtic Faithful” put all  our obvious  dissapointments with the club and the directors to one side on Sunday and show all the football world looking on that we are still “The Greatest Supporters in The World”.

GOD BLESS…TOMMY BURNS…RIP.

Hail Hail ….FRP … 30th May 2009

David O’Who?

Posted by: Fanzone | Comments (3)

The Mind Boggles!

How late do these hacks stay up at night? If story telling and fantasy is your game, become a tabloid journalist.

Wait to you here the latest fable….

  • New manager: David O’Leary
  • New Assistant Manager: Roy ‘Feed The Bear’ Aitken
  • New Head Coach: Henrik ‘Magnificent 7′, ‘King of Kings’, Larsson

What all this really means is….they haven’t a clue what’s going on, who Celtic are speaking to or who’s on the short list. In a nutshell, it’s all bullshit!

So, until the white smoke bellows out of Celtic Park to announce, officially, who the next boss is, get used to a multitude of fairy stories and fantasies from hackland!

It’s usually where the truth is never told….

Just a wee reminder of what a manager of Celtic can achieve….

The New Celtic Manager Identikit

Posted by: Fanzone | Comments (2)

Is It a Bird? Is It A Plane?

Until Gordon Strachan’s successor is found there will be a continuous stream of media speculation, like we get at any transfer window, if not more so.

So instead of indulging in the game of Owen Coyle, Mark McGhee etc..etc why don’t we try and put together a ‘Celtic Manager Identikit’.

While it’s impossible to please everyone, in fact there’s no chance of that judging by some of the comments made since WGS left, there must be a few characteristics needed to manager the Hoops.

Here goes..

  1. He must have played or supported Celtic
  2. He must hate the Huns
  3. He has to have managed at the top level
  4. He has to have a knowledge of the Scottish and European game
  5. He must be able to command respect in the dressing room
  6. He has to be able to negotiate with the board to release funds

….and most importantly,

He must WANT to manage CELTIC!

Well there it is bhoys and ghirls, any suggestions?

Beware The Ex-Celt Trap..

Posted by: Fanzone | Comments (4)

Criteria Gets Scarier By The Minute!

It’s make your mind up time folks!

Celtic HAVE to appoint a new manager following the sudden departure of Ghordon Strachan at the beginning of the week.

Since then we’ve had the usual furore of media frenzy naming THEIR choices of who should succeed WGS. And of course the bookies will show odds of punters guessing who the board will appoint.

But do we, the Faithful really know who we’d like to boss our club.

One criteria for the new man that is being banded about it that he must be an…ex-Celt or Celtic minded?

Gordon Strachan was neither and for some of the support he would NEVER be accepted. That’s just a fact of life.

So, if that’s the case, why would we accept Craig Levein? He’s neither an ex-Celt, nor Celtic minded.

Then there’s Owen Coyle. Big Celtic fan, but finished FIFTH in the Championship, albeit he won promotion through the play-offs.

Mark McGhee, certainly ticks the ex-Celt box after four years at the club, but his Murderwell didn’t even finish in the top six! His friendship with the previous manager might not go down too well in some quarters.

What about Tony Mowbray? Another ex-Celt who is well thought of by the fans, has a reputation for his teams playing good football. But just got relegated from the EPL.

Dark Horse For The Hot Seat?

Dark Horse For The Hot Seat?

Other names will emerge over the course of time, Roy Keane for example has been touted, but Keane has just recently took over at Ipswich. If he were to walk out on them, what’s to say he might not do the same with us at a future date?

Which leads me nicely to his old adversary Mick McCarthy.

Mick has just won promotion to the EPL through winning the Championship with Wolves, playing with two wide players I may add.

He’s managed at the top level including international with the Republic, and he would command respect from the dressing room, a place that needs to be sorted out immediately.

It’s just a hunch, but that’s how I’d look at.

As for the criteria? Well for every Jock Stein there’s a Lou Macari, and for every Wim Jansen there’s a Dr Jo, so be careful what you wish for…..you might just get it!

Hail! Hail!

Lets hope that our board sit down and don’t make a panic decision about who they should appoint as our new manager.

The new man must have European experience, be strong willed and put his own style into our club.

Some names have already been mentioned, Mark McGhee, Owen Coyle, Tony Mowbray but for me if he’s to be Scottish, then it has to be Craig Levein.

However, if he’s to be foreign, why not look at Bilic, Trappatoni, Rijkaard or Van Gaal?

Hope We Get The Right Man!

I Hope We Get The Right Man!

If only we’d chosen Guus Hiddink all those years ago then we might not be in this situation!

If, and when the new boss is chosen, I hope he’s in place at least a month before the start of the season to give him a chance to look at what players he wants to keep and who to let go.

He’ll also have to sit down with the board to see what kind of transfer budget he has to build a team capable of competing in Scotland and in Europe.

We live in hope!

Hail! Hail!
