Celtic Supporters Unite Against Newco!

By Fanzone

Time To Be Heard….

At the Celtic Social Club in London Road this afternoon the Celtic Supporters Association unanimously voted in favour of a boycott any club that decided to vote in favour of the Newco admittance into the SPL, regardless of the outcome, successful or not.

The North American Association of Celtic Supporters,  The Green Brigade and The Celtic Trust have all backed the CSA stance today.

During the meeting it was pointed out that outwith the ‘club formerly known as Rangers’, the total of away fans in attendance at Celtic Park for SPL matches last season was less than 4,000. Hearts sold a total of 75 tickets for the final game of the season when we gubbed them 5-0.

The collective will also keep a keen eye on what’s happening over at Hampden regarding changes in legislation and league structures.

The gloves are off, the Celtic support will not be bullied into submission by anyone. Watch this space.

    Hail Hail…
    YNWA…

  2. Davie bhoy says:

Dont agree with this, firstly we’ve no idea of the significant financial impact to some clubs of there not being a rangers, also are we really not goin to follow our team everywhere as we have always done?its hypocritical to talk of bully boy tactics from others when we threaten this sort of action. Would like to stress that I am anti newco admission to spl but every team must take decision based on self interest. Hail hail!

  3. Mo says:

Less than 4,000 away fans apart from them, in total? All season? Really?

  4. James McGoldrick says:

We need to have eyes in the back of our heads over the coming weeks. With the EURO’s going on, etc,. The SFA/SFL/SPL/The Cheats Utd will use the good week to bury bad news strategy.

If this was any other country in the world, even puppet, banana country’s sporting integrity would win the day. It’s only because of this shameful country we live in that “they” have got away with it for so long.

The channel 4 reporter sums it up, he thinks he is entering another world when he crosses the Tweed. Our reporters are an absolute disgrace, if they had done their job properly throughout the years. Then “they” ironically would be in a healthier position.

  5. Fanzone says:

    Mo, that’s a fact pal.

  6. Bob says:

Never before in my 57 yrs as a footbll supporter in Scotland have I seen the fans of so many clubs adamant that they do not want Rangers to be let off the hook and be allowed to go back in to the SPL. Chairmen everywhere should listen to these fans and say no to the Newco coming back to the top tier.

  7. Fanzone says:

Davie Bhoy, what is hypocritical is the tail waging the dog. These clubs wan to bleed the Celtic support and contribute hee-haw themselves. I ask you, 4,000 at Celtic Park ALL season. Why should we kowtow to these people?

  8. Mark says:

Totally agree with the bhoycott love the away games and will miss going but it’s for the right reasons. I also hope it’s not a 1 season bhoycott hopefully it’s forever I personally won’t go to Kilmarnock again or any other team who backs the new Huns. Hail hail

  9. Andybhoy says:

Well done to the associations for making a stand. I think we must also put aside our differences with fans of our other SPL rivals who have chosen to vote No to Newco and join forces on this and other recent developments. The revelations regarding the secret summit between the SFA, SPL and SFL have revealed the level of corruption at the heart of our game.

Be in no doubt this ‘crisis meeting to save Scottish football’ is a sham and it’s true purpose is all about how to create an environment where Zombie Rangers get back to the top flight as soon as possible and allow those who run Scottish football to appear as the saviours of our game instead of the corrupt bunch of chancers who tore up their rulebooks to aid a club who has systematically cheated for over a decade. This is not about a glorious new dawn for Scottish football, this is the biggest stitch-up in the history of our game.

What makes matters worse is that many of the ‘proposals’ being discussed by the governing bodies (and I use that term loosely) appear to have been dreamt up and championed by the very same Scottish sports journos who have acted as mouthpieces and cheerleaders of the Ibrox club for years. Are the journos trying to set the agenda here or are they merely working hand in hand laying the groundwork for those at Hampden to push this subversion to our game through?

Are our fans and fans of ALL other clubs just expected to sit back and have their views ignored while the blazers and hacks arrogantly conspire to tear down the structure of the Scottish game just to concoct an escape route for the cheats. Or do we ALL use this as an opportunity to take OUR game back.

    Hail Hail.

  10. Hopes are raised. I openly admit I only attend an odd match due to distance, finances and health. When I was younger and lived in Scotland I went to every game I could manage including, on several occasions, only the second half if I could not get away from work in time for the full game. In spite of my current restrictions, I have always expressed my faith in fan power and will support any positive action in whatever way I can. My thanks to every Celtic association that has agreed to this current action. If I can do anything to contribute, please let me know. I have commented many times on CSA and if Joe would like to contact me regarding help I would willing do my bit. There is definitely more work required now that we know their is some machinations afoot in the corridors of power over Hampden way. I am convinced we have the strength to “send ‘them’ homeward tae think again!” Anyway, this news has cheered me up no end.

  11. Tully says:

    Agree 100%

Sick of us being taken for granted as we will not be walked over anymore.

If other clubs can’t cut their cloth accordingly then I’m sorry but integrity must always come first.

  12. Ballybough23 says:

    Davie boy
can’t see the hypocrisy myself but your entitled your opinion–older fans will see it differently–we’ve been bullied and cheated for a hundred years-seize the moment pal.

  13. Dougie says:

I have to agree with Davie Bhoy… I too am anti newco but will we just boycott teams out of business?

If the smaller clubs have no celtic, no rangers then our punishment towards these clubs could effectively nail their coffin shut and result in the dismissal of players/employees of that club who may not even have a say in the matter!

SPL will become a part time league, standards will drop, including our own…. I get the attitude of sticking it to our fiercest ex-rivals in everyway possible and fully expect our club to vote NO but it is unfair to bully other clubs into making a decision that suits supporters of our club. Bullying is exactly what it is and im disappointed that supporter associations are even discussing this matter.

  14. Hevghirl says:

Totally disagree with this. Actually, I’m disgusted at this and it’s certainly not being done in my name. Talk about playing your hand too soon! Is CSA really saying we’re as bad as Rangers by threatening all and sundry who don’t conform to their viewpoint? It’s pretty clear that 95% of fans across all clubs are totally against a newco being allowed in and yet the CSA threaten these fans because their clubs ‘may’ vote in favour of a newco? I’m sorry but that makes us no better than them. I read about this two days ago and I was furious then and my anger hasn’t abated.

I think this vote is seriously ill-timed. If I was going to threaten a boycott it would be after the event, not before it and I certainly wouldn’t be discussing it in a public arena. Do we really need to give some people more ammo against us? We should all be united on this – fans from all clubs – they have already put pressure on their clubs to vote against a newco and it’s working, so to be threatening them when we need them most is utter folly. I for one will not be party to threats against other clubs. I am not a Rangers supporter and I am not as bad as them. Whatever happened to taking the moral highground? Utterly shameful.

  15. dombhoy67 says:

Especially at Kilmarnock’s park where the money mercenary chairman Johnston couldn’t care less about sporting integrity he can only see pound signs. I hope he can bank some tumble weed because that seems to be all that he will get next season from most if not all the away supporters who are outraged by his breathtaking selfishness.

  16. KevinBarry says:

So a couple of people on here are saying we’re risking putting other clubs out of business by boycotting their grounds? Why is it our resposibility to fund these clubs? They have their own fans, its not our fault that they don’t go to the ground to support their clubs. We’ve almost always got more fans in away grounds than the home team. Thts shambolic on their part.
its embarrassing when you watch other teams on the telly and their stadiums are empty.

  17. joratim says:

Taking on where Hevghirl left off. Like herself, I think the timing was wrong, believe that we should have held back until one of 2 things happened.

Number 1: Waited to see where our board are on this issue, been sold out by them too often in the past.

Number 2: Threatening others is not the Celtic Way. The former football team from the South West have made a history of this, supported by their mates in the Shocking Scottish Media. .

Think we should have waited until the vote had taken place, and then decided in a proper manner if we had any intention towards others.

  18. Squire says:

Agree with Davie Bhoy, against newco in SPL but only from a Celtic point of View. Let other fans pressure their own clubs, and take the relevant sanctions against them – what right do we have to tell other clubs how to vote? I don’t travel to put money into other clubs, I travel to support the hoops.
But now maybe wanting the Newco in SPL so we can hump them at least 4 times next season as they have no players, then watch them go through admin and liquidation again

  19. I love apples and pears but I hate grapefruit and lemons and I have little stomach for controversy within our own ranks at the moment. It seems to me there is an abundance already in place in other areas of Scottish football. I am also conscious of the well established principal of divide and conquer. However, I do feel I have the freedom to state ‘a’ case. From the comments I have read on this site and others regarding the decisions of the CSA and other associations there seems to be need for calmness and reflection on the part of many.

One element of the discussions that seems to have emerged is clear divide in opinion that is born of the generation gap. There appears to be a distinct change depending on whether you are young, middle aged, old or, like myself, extremely old. I feel this may have more to do with the developing conflict than any belief that there are divisions within our support. The basic principal is that we all want what is best for Scottish football but, hopefully, oppose anything that might jeopardise the status of Celtic or its supporters. It seems to me we are all travelling along different roads toward the same
destination. It would be tragic if we start throwing rocks at each other along the way. An important lesson could be learned from the very heritage that we boast so much about. When the Irish rebellion came to an end and an ‘arrangement’ was made with the English, there was greater antagonism among the different rebel camps toward each other in the resultant power struggle than had ever existed toward the common enemy. Perhaps that is a strong reason why there were more deaths after the settlement with England than during the rebellion itself. I pray we will not go down that road. Younger fans will, perhaps wisely, wish to take a more cautious approach in order to avoid alienation of other supporters. We older, though not always wiser, fans may react more emotionally in view of the fact that, as a few bloggers commented, we have experienced for a lot longer and perhaps much more of the insidious behaviour of both the ex-Rangers club and Scottish footballing authorities. While logic should prevail, emotion can often dictate.

To the notion that the CSA is acting too soon or no differently than the fans we condemn, I must object. I see no words or actions from the CSA to that effect. All that has been agreed to is that if Scottish footballing authorities do not conduct themselves in a fair and proper manner, Celtic supporters have in their power an option that could have a massive impact on their plans. That is a warning that, given the history of these people that we ‘oldies’ have witnessed for all of our lengthy lives, is probably worth giving. As for a threat to the very welcome alliances forming with fans all over Scotland, I am not convinced that that is how they will see it. Remember many of these fans have threatened themselves, in a sense, when they warned their chairmen of the consequences should they not listen to them. They themselves, therefore, would seem to be quite familiar with what is ‘threatening’. I also think that to interpret the decisions of the CSA as threatening other clubs never mind their supporters is similarly somewhat ill-considered. I see their statements as clearly directed at the authorities, in particular the S.F.A. and the S.P.L.

Finally, it has to be an inalienable right of all members of the Celtic family, from birth to grave, to express freely and unequivocally each one’s own opinion. I hope that this will always be respected whether in personal discussion, internet debate or any other form of communication. I do not believe that CSA or any other Celtic organisation expects to be the mouthpiece for everyone. Conversely, I expect they recognise that some supporters will differ, perhaps very strongly. That does not mean they should become enemies of each other. Far from it, our mutual communications should be a hallmark of our difference and not a repository for our differences. Respect for each other and our opinions is paramount and abuse of one another should never be tolerated. On the other hand, it is wise to listen to others and to hear what they say. Learning and wisdom are two things that sadly will end at death. Let us use them to the full while we live.

  20. John Connolly says:

Delighted with today’s decision and thanks to the CSA for their prompt action in this regard. The notion that this action would have been better held until after SPL Chairmen(hopefully not our own) had completed their treachery is utterly ridiculous. I have had 60 years of so-called moral high ground that only led to others cheating my club of its right to equal treatment. Thanks again to the Celtic Supporters Association for their wise leadership and to the member clubs for their support.

  21. Fanzone says:

Well said Pensioner Bhoy, were all want what’s best for Celtic. We’ll never keep everyone happy on how we do it, that’s just life. Personally, I don’t see the Celtic support bullying anyone. All the CSA are doing is stating a case, and so we should. We basically fund Scottish Football support wise.(Just look at the support others bring to Celtic Park)

  22. Mattabhoymatthew says:

What happens if the Celtic board vote yes to the new club playing in the SPL? Does that mean Paradise will be empty?

Have to admit I’ m in two minds about this one, can’t say if we have ever been bullied, it was just a corrupt sfa etc. to be the bully, I don’t know…

  23. Fanzone says:

Matthew, why would the Celtic board vote yes?

  24. joratim says:

    FZ

Look at my post again, I still have concerns like Matthew.

We have been let down so many times by board after board, we have seen boards of thieves, scroungers and even had a war criminal in charge.

Anyway just a point, I’m probably just an auld cynical coffin dodger who lost trust in our alleged leaders many years ago.

Don’t want to see the cheats in the SPL, don’t want them in the third division, just want them put into the pages of history and then even have those pages deleted to protect the innocent.

    HH

  25. Fanzone says:

Joe, told you plenty times, you’ve ages to go! Seriously, I understand why you doubt the board given previous form, but they couldn’t possibly vote yes. The club and the fans are more united that we have been for a long, long time. I don’t think the board would jeopardise that to suit any Newco.

  26. Jay says:

Must say I’m behind this 100% and am stunned at those who are not! This isn’t about “sticking it to our feircest rivals”! It’s about attending matches in a league that has the one main thing a league has to have and that’s sporting integrity! The teams that vote because of their financial interests, have turned their backs on the integrity of the sport and should be shunned! Period! Great job CSA! Hopefully none of this has to come to pass!?!?

  27. Celt until I die says:

Now that the great majority of Scottish Football fans agree that their clubs have suffered in one way or other from Rangers financial cheating I think it is high time that we had a thorough investigation into the constant allegations by most Celtic fans of Rangers getting advantage through referees and assistants making honest mistakes in Rangers favour. Also why Rangers always seem to have ex Rangers people or Rangers supporters in key positions in Scottish Football controlling bodies.
We really need a new beginning, we can’t have that with the curses of our past not investigated.

  28. John Connolly says:

I trust that Joratim will have many more years supporting the Celtic! I do believe that the Celtic Board has an understanding of the seriousness of this issue and the strength of feeling of the Celtic support which has no doubt been passed on through the CSA which has regular contact with the Chief Executive. No previous Celtic Board has had to consider such a proposition and there is no room for manoeuvre. The choice is clear and and unambigious. In such circumstances, I expect they will act appropriately.

  29. bunty77 says:

joratim i love you. you have put into words my thoughts on the matter. although i understand the frustration and fears of the csa in history repeating itself, i think it would have been more helpful in sustaining the dignified stance from celtic up till now, and left the action or threat of action till after the vote on monday. i hope the other clubs dont change their vote because of this. an explanation by the csa of the reasons for their threat, even at this late stage, i think is called for. not all the clubs know of the trials and tribulations celtic have suffered through what i call ” the establishment “. i know it isn’t spite., make sure everyone else does.
