Six Minutes of Suicide!

By Fanzone

Defending Misery And Missed Chances

Speaking after todays’ 2-1 (historic according to the BBC) defeat at Tannadice, Mogga made the comment that on the balance of play there was a gulf in class between the two sides.

Now I agree with Tony that for 83 minutes we were by far the better side, but someone forgot to tell our defence that the game lasts ninety minutes.

We passed the ball better than in recent weeks, we created and missed several chances, and we were worth our one goal lead courtesy of Barry Robson’s penalty.

Yet somehow you could sense that it was going to go all wrong.

And it did. Schoolboy defending of two successive Dundee United corners in the last six minutes left Daly and Dods with the easiest of tasks to give the Arabs all three points.

Sure we didn’t deserve to lose, but at this level, you MUST take your chances, or suffer the consequences.

Let’s hope Tony takes that on board too……

    EMBARASSING ARSEHOLES!

  2. johnd says:

i’m just back from watching the game at pogues in liverpool.

the idea that we were much better than dundee utd isnt one shared by the group of tims watching the game on tv.

mowbray and anyone else with that view is seriously deluded… todays game was another in a series of games (last season included)that shows no game plan and a dreadful lack of class.

the mighty celts are now in the mix with the other spl standard teams… can anyone show me an alan thompson, sutton, lubo, stan, henke, big bad john… we now watch a celtic side bereft of character and class and i’m afraid we all better get used to it because this is clearly what the board are happy with.

just be glad we didnt win the league last season because we’d have been on the end of any number of humpings in the champions league this season.

we’r now on a par, or just below, norwegian and israeli teams… the dreams are now over bhoys, until there is a shake up of those that are supposed to be leading us.

the team on the pitch no longer match the ambition (or memory) of the fans and this is the thing that is causing such a bitter reaction… we have a world class fan base, a club with a great history and tradition and a team on the pitch that would struggle, for sure, against english first division outfits.

somebody is responsible for this, somebody should tell the fans why it is we are at this level… and dont anyone say its the $$$ … it is apparent that the fans are seen by the club as customers to service the bank balance…whereas the fans are under the illusion that we support a football club.

i’ve been a tim all my life, as my ma n da…and now my kids… but the state of the team now is just an affront to the fans.

so, dont moan about minutes of bad defending, this celtic team is mediocre and thats the real fact that too many of us choose to ignore.

  3. joe o\'neil says:

Mowbray, be dignified, walk away, you and Venus plus Peter the Pointer are complete and utter arseholes.

The unmentionables are laughing at us, why, because you are a tit.

Please go and as wee extra, take hin in the suit, Desmond and the war criminal with you.

WE WILL BE THERE WHEN YOU LOT ARE GONE

  4. Gareth26GOONER says:

i’m just waiting for Arsenal to get the blame here, the clown does it all the time

  5. gleno says:

agree with johnd celtic are now just an average spl side theres no leader no spine no talent.an our strikers, fortune, samaras, are just plain crap!! im 46 an been a tim since i could breathe an seen some great players worthy of wearing the hoops, but 99 per cent of this crop are just damm well mediocre!!!, i will always love celtic, but my patience is being severely tested, im damm well angry,at the standard of football, all the empty promises from mr desmond, lawell and co.AND unless there is an injection of quality players into celtic, then theres only one way, and thats down, and im sorry my fellow tims, but you had better get used to watching that woeful crap from hereon in,because i can,t see them spashing out,and they don,t seem to give a damm what we think

  6. John Downie says:

A third rate team lead by a fourth rate manager.
The board better realise that the fans can and will eventually walk away from this utter dross. No leadership, quality or direction in this club at all.
Look where we are nowadays. Just track back from the High of Uefa Cup Final to this garbage masquerading as a team of today. Mowbray has vast experience of trying to avoid relegation. Hardly what is required to take Celtis to the next level! Blimey, and I used to think that Strachan’s teams were so robotic too!
The sign of a decent Manager is the ability to motivate player to punch above their own level. Mowbray fails miserably!
Please go now and take your side kicks with you!
Celtic Board – stop being anal retentive and see that there is more to this club that a balance sheet!

  7. cruix bhoy says:

IM LOSING THE WILL TO LIVE WATCHING THIS TEAM,ABSOLUTLEY FUCKING SHOCKING.I’VE BEEN SAYING FOR AGES TO GET RID OF TONY MOWBRAY,BUT WE ALSO NEED A MASS CLEAR OUT AT TOP LEVEL ASWELL.WGS WAS CRUCIFIED FOR LESS,BUT AT LEAST WE ACTUALLY WON GAMES WITH HIM.THE TEAMS WE ARE STRUGGLING AGAINST AND DROPPING POINTS TO WE’RE FOREVER GETTING TANKINGS FROM US,AND NOW WE ARE STRUGGLING AGAINST THEM,,,,FUCKING EMBARRASMENT

  8. john fallon says:

Who the feck is TM kidding? The fans have had enough and the Celtic Board must wriggle in there seats for appointing him.
To say after the game that there was a gulf in class he should hang his head in shame he fecking picks the team…
Tony you have lost the dressing room and the whole lot of you are making a mockery of our club.
Mr Lawwell and the board will be next if there is no quick improvement….

PS… has Peter Reid got a contract with Stoke City as adviser? Let’s give him 6th months with options….

  9. Michael says:

    John

If you havent got anything constructive or objective to say, try and find a village who are short of an idiot.

  10. joe o\'neil says:

Come on Michael, John is feeling it the same as the rest of us.
Him in the suit, the war criminal and Dermott(I\’m Skint when the tim\’s need anything)were those who appointed him and have to share the blame. Crawbags the lot.

TM brought the pointer as part of his team, I said then, and still say, that that showed his football knowledge.

My first game at Celtic Park was in January 1942, I was just turned 4 at the time. My dad lifted me over the gate.

In all of those years, the pointer is the only Celtic player I have ever seen that finished a game with pains in his arms rather than pains in his legs.

To me it says it all, TM is an utter tube, and as sais earlier, walk away while we have a chance of getting back

  11. gleno says:

    solv ottensen..jan durica..mathias jorgensen..brandan!TMs christmas list???? i wish!!!

  12. Eddie Murray says:

I know,I know, same old story but I don’t feel all is lost yet. Come January, we will buy a decent striker, a decent centre half and a midfielder who can drive, pass and SCORE. That’s what is missing. The whole team is not a shambles and we didn’t play badly yesterday-we just lack the creative ability to finish teams-AND STOP THEM FINISHING US! The money has been promised-lets see what he can do with it. Heids up Lhads and Lhassies-still plenty of the season left and I think we will win the league with our new players.

  13. timtim says:

sorry lads but the rangers will walk the league and nae kidden,

  14. Dominic says:

Tony Mowbray needs to go. I said in the summer and I was laughed at that we should have went for Craig Levein as he knows the Scottish gane inside out.Todays game proves this. We should also have sacked Strachan last season half way through but all we heard from the Board was how lucky we were to have him. The same is going to happen this season unless we sack Mowbray now.

  15. johnd says:

michael, thanks for your ‘constructive’ response, a snide comment masquerading as wit is hardly worth the reply.

but if it makes you feel better here ye go

    CELTIC ARE A GREAT TEAM
PARKHEAD HAS 60,000 EVERY HOME GAME
THE BOARD ARE 100% BACKING THE TEAM
MOWBRAY IS A MASTER AT TACTICS
    SAMARAS IS BETTER THAN LARSSON
THIS TEAM WOULD MURDER O’NEILS TEAM

now lets all get together and happy clappy, after 3…

i’ll get back to my village now michael and leave you in Dermot Desmond la la land.

  16. Billy Stark\'s wig says:

Who else (within our budget) is going to perform miracles with this shower of useless a-holes?

I was actually quite pleased when I thought young Thompson was going to be playing, although in the end he didn’t. I know he is raw and untried but we know what the tried and tested lunks in the centre of defence are capable, and INCAPABLE, of.

Unless we disappear out of the title race then I would stick with TM and give him support in January to get his own guys in and shovel some of these cretins out the door.

I know it’s only press speculation from yesterday but £2m for McManus? £7m for Brown? Nothing for Caldwell? I will drive them to their destinations in an instant.

The board obviously had enough belief anf faith in TM to pay West Brom fairly hefty (by our standards anyway) compensation for his services. Why not back him to the hilt with it?

I have to say though if we continue to downsize and listen to the board’s balance sheet rhetoric for much longer then we will be back to the pre-Fergus days of being delighted with a Scottish or League Cup win!

  17. john fallon says:

Michael… Youu want some thing constructive? What do u say about a manager, that lets the players say, its to wet to go out and train?
Last nite my phone was ringing off the hook with Celtic Fans (are you 1)about their anger and rage at TM when he was walking still smiling to the dressing rooms at full-time.. these fans pay good money home and away they deserve better…

It’s not to late to stop the rot from getting worse but the truth is if I was in charge of cash flow at CP I’d be worried about giving it to TM for new players after all I gave him the job so why not cut our loses before we go further behind to a team across the city that’s doomed. This hurts me to say but they have players that will fight for the jersey bad as they may look they have pride in there club.
We have money grabbers… Do you want to go back to Barnes (better Stats) or Macari days?
I love this club and don’t want to go back to the pre Fergus days. I’m sure the wee man would’ve kicked his arse out the door already and so I think our board must meet and change direction immediately….

  18. poe csc says:

wat a feckin joke…how many times do we see it from corners, big men in the box unmarked…would love to see the U19’s get a run out on saturday, coz the 1st team are useless

  19. john fallon says:

Fanzone don’t forget Celtic Q&A night in Blantyre Columba Club with Celtic Legends this Friday 27th Nov.
Mr Bonner are you coming along with your fiancee Celtic Ghirl? What about CrazyMama, CelticBabe and the gang? The more we have the more brandy shandies to drink… I’m still off the fags but after yesterday don’t know for how long?… even Joe Clark who’s in Monklands is afraid he’ll take a relapse while Jimmy Blackwood in Wimbledon is driving his Cab over mini roundabouts we have all gone crazy !!

  20. cruix bhoy says:

we’re in serious danger of losing 2 in a row to the worst, sorry 2nd worst (last season was the worst)rangers team in history.excuse me,but celtic arent on the verge of bancruptcy,we have zero debt according to mr fud lawell,so why should we be in this situation,,how many red necks do we have to take this season?its only november and believe me,WE ARE IN A CRISIS

  21. Johnbhoy says:

If we remember we only won 4 out of 14 to end last season. If we are lucky we will clear out dead wood, starting with the chuckle brothers at the back, Scott Brown (you can’t defend the indefensible), Wilo Flood, K Mizuno, Samaras (if we’re lucky). I could go on, as to be fair as I would only keep the holy goalie if truth be told. We have got to back the manager until at least the end of the season. January is when we will see if he is ruthless enough to see what this squad is. At SPL level you don’t need to be a tactical genius (see W.Smith c/o Ibrox for proof of that!). My own view is TM has informed certain individuals that they are on borrowed time and instead of proving him wrong they have downed tools. Appreciate the football on show is shocking but if Celtic players can’t see off 99% of the league teams that they have faced on numerous occasions then it its them the players at fault.
